It seems the Alabama football program is facing some unexpected changes as starting receiver Isaiah Horton has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. This news, shared with On3 on Thursday, marks a significant shift in the team's offensive lineup.
Horton's journey with the Crimson Tide was relatively short, having joined the team after transferring from Miami. During his single season with Alabama in 2025, he made a notable impact, catching 42 passes for 511 yards and an impressive eight touchdowns. This followed a strong 2024 season at Miami, where he secured 56 catches for 616 yards and five touchdowns.
He was a key player, starting in 11 games for the Crimson Tide this past season, and played 601 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
But here's where it gets controversial... Horton's departure leaves a void in the receiving core. With Horton gone, only one returning starter remains: Ryan Williams. The team is expected to rely on Lotzeir Brooks, Rico Scott, and Derek Meadows to step up. Germie Bernard will be entering the NFL Draft. Cole Adams, Jaylen Mbakwe, and Jalen Hale have also entered the transfer portal. Rico Scott initially planned to transfer but has decided to stay. The team is also set to welcome in-state receiver Cederian Morgan as part of its recruiting class.
